Lisheen Organics

LISHEEN ORGANICS
ORGANIC MARKET GARDEN
IN WEST CORK IRELAND

Lisheen Organics is a self sustaining home and business in a beautiful coastal location in West Cork close to Skibbereen town, the village of Ballydehob and only half a mile from the sea. It sits on a 3.5 acres site looking out over the river Ilen estuary to Baltimore and Cape Clear Island.

The accommodation consists of a south facing comfortable two bedroom traditional farmhouse with a new extension sunroom and a one bedroom self-contained apartment. All bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms.

The property has underfloor central heating fuelled by a high spec. gasification wood burning boiler.
Hot water is supplied by solar panels and there is also a 6.5kw wind turbine which generates all electricity needed with a surplus which is sold to the national grid.

The thriving market garden business produces an abundance of certified organic vegetables, fruits and herbs both inside the 5 large commercial polytunnels and outside in permanent raised beds. These are sold at local farmers markets and also to various healthfood shops and restaurants in the area. Lisheen organics is known particularly for its highly acclaimed asparagus crop from the 2000 established plants. This crop alone generates a substantial income.
There is the added bonus of a large newly constructed workshop 6mx12m.
